Sports kitchen for kids · age 6–18

What should my child eat for training today?

Sporttáp looks at your child’s sport, weekly sessions and races, and turns them into a daily menu: breakfast to dinner, with a pre-training snack and recovery. It also explains why – without adult protocols or supplements.

Installable web app (PWA) for phone and laptop. Built for parents – children have no account. Content is an example, not personalised medical advice. Interface in Hungarian and English; the recipe library is Hungarian home cooking.

The problem

Parents decide every day – based on advice written for adult athletes

A gel before the start, BCAA, magnesium shots, “carb loading”. A child is not a small adult: growth, regular meals and fluids matter most. Sporttáp turns that knowledge into everyday decisions.

🍌

What before training?

A load-adjusted snack 60–90 minutes before the session – easily digested, familiar foods.

🏁

What on race day?

72-hour preparation and a minute-by-minute race-day timeline: main meal, water, start, recovery, packing list.

🛒

What to buy?

The weekly menu becomes a shopping list in one tap – for several children and family-sized portions.

One app that follows your child’s week

📅

Training and races

Recurring weekly template, exceptions, planned vs. actual attendance kept separate.

🍽️

Daily menu, 5+ meals

Rest, training and race-day patterns; allergen-safe swaps and an “another suggestion” button.

📝

Calm diary

“As planned”, “ate something else”, “skipped” – no red failure marks, the weekly pattern counts.

🧠

Animated knowledge base

From food to energy, muscle and recovery, iron and oxygen, calcium and bone, fluids, race situations.

🥛

“This much in it” cards

Real portions: a glass of milk, an egg, 100 g lentils – from verifiable sources, in the right units.

Several children, one family

Each child has their own plan, cooked from the same dinner.

Principles

What Sporttáp deliberately does not do

✓
Food first, supplement off. No BCAA, creatine, caffeine or “pre-start shots”. Iron and vitamin D: based on labs and a doctor.
✓
No weight-loss goal, no calorie deficit. Growth comes first; the app shows ranges and never suggests less.
✓
No adult per-kg protocols. Planning ranges are for children, with uncertainty stated.
✓
Plan and actual kept apart. A missed session does not break the template; the diary never rewrites the plan.
✓
Sources and professional review. IOC youth consensus, AAP, NIH reference values, MDOSZ – cited in every module.
✓
Minimal data. Parent account, household-level isolation, export and delete in one tap.
FAQ

What parents ask

Does a 20-minute kids’ race need an energy gel?

Usually not. The familiar, carbohydrate-rich meal about 3 hours before the start and a few sips of water are what count. The race-day plan shows this with a “Why?” explanation.

Is BCAA or whey good for my child?

We do not recommend BCAA: it provides only three amino acids, while new muscle protein needs all nine essential ones. Milk, yoghurt, quark, eggs, meat and fish are the better package.

Does the app set calorie or protein targets?

It shows ranges (e.g. carbohydrate g/kg by day type), not strict numbers – and without a weight it does not calculate at all. It never suggests less; growth comes first.

Does it replace a dietitian or paediatrician?

No. Content is an example and education. For suspected iron deficiency, persistent fatigue, loss of appetite or very high training volume it points you to a professional.
